A build of Dinosaur Planet, an unreleased Nintendo 64 title by developer Rare, has finally been unearthed.
According to Game Revolution, a build of the game, which would go on to evolve into GameCube s Star Fox Adventures, is now out in the wild. Thanks to preservationist group Forest of Illusion, anyone can now tinker with a near-complete version of the original title.
Years after the project was shuttered and development switched to GameCube, the build was extracted from a disc purchased from a private collector.
Dinosaur Planet began as a standalone title independent of the Star Fox franchise. With input from Nintendo s Shigeru Miyamoto, however, it ultimately shifted to a platforming and adventure-focused entry in the Star Fox series. The game followed a character named Sabre as he journeyed through the titular dinosaur-laden planet with blue fox Krystal, who remained for Star Fox Adventures.
