HUNTINGTON â Just a dozen years ago, Marshall strength and conditioning coach Ben Ashford had no visions of a career in college athletics.
At 28 years old, Ashford had a business administration degree from Auburn and was a construction project manager in Alabama.
The 2009 housing market crash flipped Ashfordâs world upside down, though.
âWhen the housing market crashed, obviously construction took a huge hit,â Ashford said. âI got laid off and I always say that was God doing for me what I couldnât do for myself because Iâve got too much pride to quit. I didnât have a choice at that point.â
