When vulnerable people get sick, when vulnerable communities burn, when they are us, our family members, our neighbors – it matters.  The year 2020 exposed how under-investment can devastate our communities, our people, and our state’s economy. And the problems of the pandemic, fires, pollution that threatens air, water and land aren’t going away any time soon.  How we approach solving these issues will determine how efficiently and effectively we succeed. We need solutions that are effective, efficient and equitable.

Salem student earns high marks  Arnav Mohindra, a junior at South Salem High School, recently earned perfect scores on the ACT and PSAT, as well as a near-perfect score  1590/1600  on the SAT.  According to ACT officials, fewer than half of 1% of students who take the ACT earn the same top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2020, only 5,579 out of 1.67 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.
