As the Grateful Dead said, “What a long, strange trip it’s been.” This was also a return to the normal time these meetings generally take, finishing the meeting in a mere two hours. The Better Bennington Corporation’s Work Plan and budget were the main agenda item. The board unanimously approved the BBC’s funding for fiscal 2022. One of the hot topics we hear about almost daily and which affects students of all ages is Critical Race Theory. Those who are injecting this curriculum into our schools and universities claim that inherent racism and white supremacy are defining elements of our society. They want to divide us into oppressors and oppressed. CRT insists that whites have an unfair advantage, privilege, over people of color. People of color are deemed to be victims and that the deck is stacked against them.

A true public servant : Community remembers Jay Atwood

Courtesy photos WEATHERFORD — Entities all over East Parker County and beyond remembered the life of Father Jay Atwood, who died Tuesday. His passing came after he suffered a stroke on July 8, according to the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. Atwood was known for roles within the city of Willow Park, the Aledo Volunteer Fire Department and the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, where he had served as Canon to the Ordinary since January, 2020. Prior to that, Atwood was a rector of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Willow Park for more than 25 years.  Willow Park Mayor Doyle Moss called Atwood a true public servant after knowing him for several years.
