As the country s leaders are honored this President s Day weekend, consider a trip this year to the earliest days of our country by visiting Vincennes, the oldest city in our state, one of the oldest settlements west of the Appalachians and the former home of William Henry Harrison, our ninth president.
Harrison was only in his late 20s, but already the hero of several major victories, when in 1802 he was appointed governor of the newly created Indiana territory headquartered in Vincennes. The territory was a vast swath of land that included all of Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, Minnesota east of the Mississippi River, a slice of present day Ohio and large sections of both the Upper Peninsula and the western half of the Lower Peninsula in what would become the state of Michigan.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Retired Honolulu police officer Niall Silva was sentenced to nine months behind bars Wednesday for his role in the corruption case that took down the Kealohas.
He must surrender June 14, and will serve a year of supervised release following his prison term.
Chief Judge Michael Seabright acknowledged Silva had taken responsibility for his actions by pleading guilty in 2016 to conspiracy and by then aiding federal prosecutors.

The Senate had a test vote this week that cast deep doubt on the prospects for convicting former President Donald Trump on the impeachment charge now pending against him. Without a two-thirds majority for conviction, there will not be a second vote in the Senate to bar him from future federal office.
Also this week, Politico released a Morning Consult poll that found 56% of Republicans saying that Trump should run again in 2024. As he left Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20, he said he expected to be back in some form.
