May 13, 2021 • (TNS) An attorney for Long Lake Township has asked the Michigan Supreme Court to review a case regarding the use of drones by municipalities to document code violations.
In March a state Court of Appeals panel ruled 2-1 that township officials could not fly a drone over someone s backyard, take photos and use them to cite the homeowner for zoning violations, without first obtaining a warrant.

Peggy Evans Thomas, 98, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021.
She was born March 22, 1923, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Theodore I. Evans, Sr., and Faith Elliott Evans. Although she spent nearly her entire life in Chattanooga, her family lived in Georgia for part of her youth, and she earned a diploma from Montezuma High School in Montezuma, Ga., in 1940, when students were graduated after 11th grade. She then returned to Chattanooga for an additional year of secondary school and attended Chattanooga High School, graduating with the class of 1941. It was there that she met the love of her life and husband of 40 years, Richard C. (Dick) Thomas, who preceded her in death in 1989.

She was not awarded a prize because the gentlemen judges from South Kensington did not believe that the lace had been made in England owing to its high quality.
Ann offered to make another in front of the judges.
Later, the prize was sent to her, but she refused to accept it and sent it back. At the end of June that year the banner screen and other examples of Ann’s Honiton lace were exhibited at the Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.

The museum, located next to the St. Helena Public Library, reopened by appointment Thursday, April 15, after being closed for over a year during the pandemic.
