A councilwoman says transparency could suffer in a rush to begin MAPS 4 upgrades at downtown's NBA arena.
A plan presented Thursday to the MAPS 4 Citizens Advisory Board on behalf of The Oklahoma City Thunder proposes beginning arena work this summer.
"I would prefer to prioritize a lot of the projects that have not received public investments over the past 10 years," said Ward 6 Councilwoman JoBeth Hamon.
Approved by voters in December 2019, MAPS 4 comprises 16 projects ranging from arena upgrades and an animal shelter to low-income housing, facilities for social services agencies and transit.
The 1-cent sales tax has brought in $66.2 million since collections began April 1.
