SPRINTERS CAN’T BE SPLIT IN OAKLEIGH PLATE DEAD-HEAT February 20, 2021 6:00 pm By Conor Walsh Portland Sky and Celebrity Queen have fought out a thrilling dead-heat in a sensational edition of the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield on Saturday. Portland Sky settled just behind the lead in the 1100m dash under young rider Teo Nugent, while Willie Pike was forced to inferior ground on the inside midfield after jumping from barrier three. Portland Sky worked his way to the front early in the straight and gave a good kick with plenty of traffic issues unfolding behind him. Pike didn’t have much choice but to dive towards the inside rail on Celebrity Queen and the exciting West Australian showed a great burst of speed to launch at the line, with Portland Sky under Siege from a number of rivals nearing the post.
