Governor Walz Launches ‘Your Shot to Summer’ Campaign to Encourage COVID-19 Vaccinations

ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Thursday, Governor Walz announced a vaccine incentive campaign called “Your Shot to Summer” to encourage Minnesotans to get their COVID-19 vaccine by July 1.
The governor’s office said in a Thursday news release, “The first 100,000 Minnesotans who get their first shot between May 27 and June 30 will be able to choose the reward of their preference from a wide-ranging list of options, including state parks passes, fishing licenses, and tickets to various summer attractions and events.”
“Summer is here, vaccines are working, and we are still going full steam ahead finding ways to keep our communities safe,” said Governor Walz. “We’ve had great success in our state so far with more than 2.5 million Minnesotans fully vaccinated, and we want to build on that success and get the broad community protection needed for everyone to have the fun

Council closes meeting to discuss investigative data
The council voted to close a portion of the meeting to discuss active investigative data, which is allowed under Minnesota s open meeting laws.
According to the brief explanation in the council s meeting packet, city staff requested the opportunity to update one active investigation. No other details were given.
Alexandria Police Chief Scott Kent was at the meeting.
Tabled request for transient license approved
The council issued a transient merchant license for Tracy Hayes of Alexandria.
The council had tabled the request at its last meeting to find out more information about the items Hayes would be selling.
