  With the Sugar Land Skeeters scheduled to host their first home game as an affiliate of the Houston Astros organization Thursday, there’s been plenty of buzz about Triple-A baseball coming to Fort Bend County.  Though I tend to view baseball and most sports pretty dispassionately these days, I can certainly appreciate the excitement that many of you have for your hometown team to grow up from a loyal, successful niche entertainment option to a crucial cog in the machine of a Major League Baseball franchise.  I have to admit I felt a fair amount of resonance and nostalgia from our Publisher and CEO Jonathan McElvy’s excellent column two weeks ago about the lessons he learned coaching his son’s baseball team and the coaches that left strong impressions on him in his youth. And no, it was not only because one of my fall ball teams that my cousin and I played on was called the Mudcats as well.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing Santa Clarita man. Oscar Camas, is a 21 year-old male Hispanic who was last seen at his residence on the 27000 block of Solamint Road in Santa Clarita, Wed, Apr 28, 2021, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Oscar is 5’8” tall, 160lbs with long curly black hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on the right thigh. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black sweatpants. Mr. Camas suffers from depression. His family has not seen or heard from him and are very concerned and asking for the public’s help.
