Binghamton Police Investigate Fatal South Side Fire

Man Dies After House Fire on the South Side of Binghamton Authorities say the blaze at 14 McNamara Avenue was reported around 6 p.m. Monday. Assistant fire chief Michael Griffis said heavy smoke was coming from the two-and-a-half story single family home when firefighters arrived. A 61-year-old man was found within a few feet of the rear door of the house. He died before arriving at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Griffis said the fire was declared under control after about 35 minutes. He said firefighters were at the scene for just over two hours. The city fire marshal s office and police detectives are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Johnson City Man Accused of Attacking Neighbor with Gun Authorities say the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Sherman Street. Officers were sent to investigate a report of a fight involving two men, including one armed with a gun. Investigators say 29-year-old Stephen Price of Johnson City was arrested. He was charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say Price is accused of repeatedly hitting a neighbor in the head with a gun. The other man was treated at Wilson Medical Center for his injuries. Officers confiscated a realistic-looking BB gun. In addition to the charges related to the dispute, Price was accused of violating the terms of his parole.

Roy Cooper announced that the first COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived in North Carolina, Atrium Health in Charlotte posted that the vaccine arrived at the healthcare facility. “The vaccine has arrived at Atrium Health. We are excited to be among the 1st in the nation to receive the first doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine,” Atrium Health tweeted. “This is an exciting day as we enter a very hopeful phase in defeating this virus.
