The investigation
The investigation began Jan. 27 when Priceâs legislative assistant verbally reported to the House that Price told her he had sex with a House intern the night before. Per policy, outside counsel was contracted to conduct an investigation, which was then given to the Committee on Ethics.
Priceâs legislative assistant testified to the Committee on Ethics on Feb. 27, that Price came into his office, shut the door and told her he had sex with the intern the night before.
She also testified that after reporting this to the House, Price told his legislative assistant she had messed up by telling another representative and told her to essentially recant what she had said to that person and then to support what he was saying â that he âdidnât do anything and it was all wrong.â

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) The Missouri House Ethics Committee says a state lawmaker who allegedly had sex with an intern should be punished.
A committee report released Wednesday says a staffer reported that St. Louis Democratic Rep. Wiley Price admitted to having sex with an intern. The report says he then pressured the staffer to keep quiet.
Price didn’t immediately return Associated Press requests for comment Wednesday.
He denied having sex with the intern to the committee. Lawmakers gave Price until Wednesday to resign.
They recommend he be banned from working with interns and stripped of much of his legislative power if he doesn’t.

Editor s note: This story has been updated with a comment from Rep. Wiley Price saying he will not be resigning.
A Democratic state representative is facing a wide range of sanctions after an investigation into whether he had sex with a college intern in January.
A report from the Missouri House Ethics Committee released Wednesday does not say whether Rep. Wiley Price IV, D-St. Louis, actually had sex with the intern.
The report does say, however, that Price lied to the committee and its investigators when he denied telling an aide about an inappropriate relationship with the intern.
Price was not immediately available for comment.
