Oklahoma college students lead innovation

By Scott Meacham I am a history buff. I really enjoy reading about the events of our state and our country from years ago. While it is highly unlikely that I would ever sign up for a civilian trip to the moon, if time travel ever became a reality, I would at least investigate the possibility. Lately, I have been enjoying some desk-chair time travel, writing about Oklahoma inventors and entrepreneurs, people like Wiley Post, inventor of the first pressurized flight suit, and Bob Dunn, with his electric guitar. And then, for the last two weeks, we at i2E have been elbow-deep with new entrepreneurs who are making entrepreneurial history of their own as the 2021 Love’s Cup statewide collegiate business plan competition came to a celebratory close.

Utqiagvik will see its first paved street this summer

Utqiagvik will see its first paved street this summer April 22nd 5:22 pm |   In addition to upgrades to the Utqiagvik Airport, the state plans to lay down the first paved road in Alaska s northernmost community this summer. Ahkovak Street, which runs parallel to the Wiley Post-Will Rogers Memorial Airport, is on the list for this year s State of Alaska Department of Transportation improvements. The project, which is expected to cost more than $7 million, includes raising the roadway, improving drainage and paving the street. The improvements will come at a cost this summer, however, for motorists traveling through the area. Portions of the street will be closed with detours and single-direction traffic while construction is underway. The project is 90% funded by the Federal Highway Administration with a 10% state match and is expected to be completed by September.
