Celebrate some tasty treats with a pair of festivals happening in the area this weekend. Starting Friday and running through Saturday, Aledo's Rhubarb Festival will be held in the community's central park and feature live music on both days, model train displays, crafts and flea markets, and baked goods for sale. Come early tomorrow for the Aledo Volunteer Firemen's breakfast that will include Rhubarb toppings or take in the Lil' Rhubarb Royalty Pageant. The traveling miniature Vietnam Tribute Wall is also on full display in Aledo and will be there until Sunday. CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be in place. Saturday is also the 33rd Annual Elmwood Strawberry Festival running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in and around Central Park in downtown Elmwood. The summer is here and a pair of music events that run throughout the summer will resume for you to consider with your weekend. The Levitt AMP Galva Music Series is resuming this year after canceling last year because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Kicking off on Sunday at Galva's Wiley Park is Midwestern folk band: Good Morning Bedlam and surf rock band: the Surf Zombies. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as they enjoy an entertaining evening of live music. Food vendors will be on-site or guests can bring a picnic dinner. Levitt AMP concerts at Wiley Park are provided free of charge. The music series is supported by many community sponsors, donors, and volunteers, and several arts non-profits, including the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation. Backstage Jazz returns to Prairie Players Civic Theatre on Friday. Patrons can enjoy the Derel Monteith Trio from 7-9:30 pm.
