Canned food drive to benefit food bank
Tarentum Recreation Board and Allegheny Valley Association of Churches is conducting a canned food drive through March 8 to benefit the association food bank.
Bins are set up in the following Tarentum businesses: Seita Jewelers, Harvest Moon Coffee and Chocolates, Asay’s News Stand, Dry Bones, Costello Printing, Diamond Antiques and Merle Norman Cosmetics.

Highlands plans annual Early Childhood Fair
Highlands School District will host the annual Kindergarten and Pre-K Counts Registration and Early Childhood Fair March 4, 5, 11 and 12.
Appointments are 45 minutes long and are available from 5 to 8 p.m. March 4 and 11, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5 and 12.
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Parents should bring their child, the child’s original birth certificate, two proofs of residency and the child’s immunization records. HOPE Center accepting gift card donations
The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center is accepting donations of gift cards in $10 increments from BP, Community Market, Giant Eagle, Sheetz and Get Go.
Survivors of domestic violence run short on money to get to work, take their children to doctor appointments or get to their hearings. Cards can be mailed to P.O. Box 67, Tarentum PA 15084 or delivered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays to the office at 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum.

Drive-through food distribution set at Lernerville Speedway
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No cars are permitted to arrive before 11 a.m.
Reservations are required to ensure enough food is available. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/drive-up/butler/ or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. Have your license plate number of the car you will be in at the event, name, email, zip code, date of birth and current weekly income on hand. Bring your confirmation page or email for your
