Princesa and Chaquira are a bonded pair seeking a new home through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. (Animal Welfare League of Alexandria)
ALEXANDRIA, VA Finding a new home for the holidays is at the top of the wish lists for pets at shelters like the one run by Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. For senior pups Princesa and Chaquira, the goal is to find a family together.
The two dogs are more than just bonded friends. The 9-year-old German shepherd mix Chaquira is the mother of 8-year-old Princesa, and the two have been inseparable. The pair had been surrendered to a shelter in Miami in November when the owner could no longer care for them.
