Staten, Knapp Lead West Coast Starz to Dramatic â22 IL Invitational Title Win Over 91 MD, 6-4
Wednesday July 14th, 2021 5:00pm
With the game tied 4-4 and less then 3:00 to play, West Coast Starz d-middie Samari Staten made the biggest play of the game. With an errant pass rolling toward the sideline/midline in front of the substitution box, Staten was the third guy to the loose ball, scooped it up, evaded an over the head ice pick attempt by Team 91 Maryland LSM Malachi Jones (Virginia), moved it to teammate Will Miller (Wesleyan).
Miller fed Offensive MVP Charlie Knapp (Wesleyan) for his third goal of the day. He added an insurance goal a minute later and West Coast Starz topped Team 91 Maryland, 6-4, to win the 2022 IL Invitational Session Two championship at Blandair Regional Park in Columbia, Md., Wednesday afternoon.

Owen Duffy went into beast mode with seven goals to lead the Friars to a 15-11 win over rival Chaminade (N.Y.), but he wasn’t the only standout.
Andrew McAdorey had two goals and four assists, Mike Leo added three goals and one helper and Jordan Naso went 17-for-30 on faceoffs. Wins over Iona Prep (N.Y.) and Fordham Prep (N.Y.) followed for the Friars, which are now the no-doubt top team in the national rankings.
The Flyers bounced back from a tight loss to St. Anthony’s to defeat Delbarton (N.J.) 8-6. Charles Balsamo led with four goals and one assist, Ben Bonafede had one goal and one assist, Mac Rodriguez added a pair of helpers and Alex Zepf made 10 saves.

Your correspondent, Will Miller, did a great service in drawing attention to the international significance of the Pevensey Levels and the threat posed by speculative housing developments (Eastbourne Herald, April 30).
The Levels are indeed one of the most environmentally important sites in the whole of England, but their continued viability is now in danger as never before.
Readers should know that as well as the threat to the Levels from the north and west as a result of building proposals within Wealden, there is a similar danger of great harm on the eastern side.
