CARTHAGE, Texas (KTRE) - Members of the National Honor Society at Carthage High School started a Hurricane Relief Drive last month as they asked the community for donations to help hurricane victims in the Cameron, Lake Charles and Moss Bluff areas Southwest Louisiana.
Some of those students were able to drop off those donations personally a few days ago.
Roy Exum: The ‘Bonus’ Question Wednesday, December 16, 2020 - by Roy Exum

There is no question in my mind that the Erlanger Hospital Board of Trustees – individually – are fine people. I know five of the 10 personally and have great respect for another two or three I’ve heard about. Yet we are told that sometime Thursday the hospital board will vote to award President and CEO Will Jackson a $50,000 bonus and I am convinced this is wrong. Understand, I have no dog in the hunt; I’m no more than an interested observer. But I am disappointed in myself in that I have become a vocal critic of Erlanger management, only because I am in a position to see what the other actual owners of the hospital obviously cannot.

A preliminary hearing was continued Tuesday morning until next week in Trigg District Court for the Gracey man charged with the September 14 choking death of 81-year old Thelma “Ilene” Barnett on Will Jackson Road.
Public defender Mary Rohrer asked Judge Jamus Redd for the continuance, as a new attorney will have to be appointed for 42-year old Jonathan McCoy of Gracey due to a conflict in the local public advocacy office.
Roy Exum: Erlanger s Bogus Bonus Sunday, December 13, 2020 - by Roy Exum

It has been reported the Erlanger Hospital Board of Trustees will approve a $50,000 bonus this Thursday for CEO Will Jackson when, in my opinion, the guy has hurt more hospital employees than any other person since the cornerstone for the place was laid in 1891.
The claim is that under Jackson’s leadership the hospital has made “critical financial and management goals” in the last fiscal year when a closer look solidly proves this is untrue. It also lends credence to the belief by some that Chattanooga’s only Level 1 trauma center is a house made of cards and that “more sooner than later” the truth will be found out in a startling way.
