KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) - Wyandotte County is one step closer to a mask mandate. Thursday night, Unified Government Public Health Department leaders presented data to the Board of County Commissioners for a special session. Medical Officer Dr. Allen Greiner, MD, concluded the presentation by recommending they institute a mandate similar to what Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas created on Wednesday.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The COVID-19 delta variant is in the Kansas City metro, but it s not impacting local hospitals the same way it is in other parts of Missouri, according to local health department leaders. It is a concern that something like what happened in Springfield, could happen here, said Hannah Conner, an epidemiologist with the Wyandotte County Health Department, but I think that because there is such a high percent of people who are the most high risk, like people who are 65 and up, that are vaccinated, I think that s going to be really helpful.
KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) - One person has died of the COVID-19 Delta variant in Wyandotte County. The county reports 22 cases of the Delta variant. The Delta variant spreads more easily, making it a bigger threat to our community, especially since the majority of people in Wyandotte County have not received a COVID-19 vaccine, the Wyandotte County Health Department said in a statement.
