Two major bus stations in HCM City have started attracting crowds with less than two weeks to go for Tet.

Both Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station in Binh Thanh District and Mien Tay (Western) Bus Station in Binh Tan District require passengers to follow COVID-19 preventive measures like wearing masks and keep a safe distance from others and check temperatures and tell passengers to declare their health status before entering.

Many people in southern Vietnam have rushed to return railway tickets as they skipped their hometown-returning plans for the Lunar New Year holiday for fear of new coronavirus outbreaks in ten provinces and cities in the past week.
The mass ticket return has taken place at Di An Station in Binh Duong Province, Saigon Station in Ho Chi Minh City, and Bien Hoa Station in Dong Nai Province.
The passengers started pouring to Di An Station in Binh Duong to return purchased tickets on Monday, right after the southern province announced its second community case of COVID-19 infection.
Covid-19, floods make 2020 a bad year for railroad operator

The Covid-19 pandemic and central region floods have caused the Vietnam Railways Corporation’s revenues to plummet and are likely to saddle it with losses for 2020.
The parent company reported a total revenue of VND1.71 trillion ($74.5 million), with an estimated loss of 1.32 trillion.
As a result of the pandemic, the number of passengers was sharply down during peak travel seasons such as summer and New Year.
A total 2,886 train routes were suspended from February to May last year, owing to Covid-19 impacts, according to Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR). Total passenger numbers were also sparse for the first six months, filling only 56 percent of total train capacity.
