The annual National Memorial Day Concert airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. on PBS.
It will include a 20th anniversary remembrance of 9/11 presented by Steve Buscemi.
“I went to D.C. almost 20 years ago the year after 9/11; I was asked to do the 9/11 tribute then because they knew I’m a former firefighter with Engine 55 in Manhattan,” Buscemi said. “Here we are 20 years later. I’m actually not coming to D.C. I’ve pretaped my tribute at Ground Zero in front of the Freedom Tower and 9/11 museum, so I’m very honored.”
He’ll never forget the heartbreak of watching the Twin Towers fall.

Groundbreaking ceremony marks start of work on Vietnam War memorial in La Crosse
The first phase of the project will include a wall listing the 1,170 military members killed in action during the Vietnam war.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- A new memorial for America’s fighting men and women is coming soon to La Crosse.
A groundbreaking for a new Vietnam War Memorial was held today at Veterans Freedom Park in La Crosse.
Several veterans came together to mark the start of the project.
It’s located near other memorials for veterans.
The location could be a destination for people honoring those who serve our country.
A Tribute to Veterans, sponsored by the Mayor’s Worthy Cause, is scheduled for Saturday, June 12.
Morton Hospital, Mozzone Lumber and Quality Beverage are supporters of the Mayor’s Worthy Cause and were among the first to donate in support of the Tribute to Veterans. These donations, along with others from the Greater Taunton Allied Veterans Council and GAR Memorial Trust, as well as a grant from the Taunton Cultural Council, made it possible to host this free community event for Taunton residents.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The opening ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Vietnam War Memorial at Church Green. Additional activities will include the display of military vehicles downtown, an obstacle course event at noon behind City Hall, and patriotic art displays by local artists at Liberty & Union plaza.
FALL RIVER More than 500 Vietnam veterans, Gold Star families, officials and friends and families gathered at Bicentennial Park on Saturday to honor the fallen and dedicate the region s recently completed 80% replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.
The $1.5 million project, which has been four years in the making led by a group of 16 volunteers, is a welcome addition to the city’s waterfront memorials to veterans killed in foreign wars.
“This is what happens when the community, its citizens and the Commonwealth work for a common cause this wall,” said Joe Marshall, president of the Fall River Vietnam Memorial Wall Committee. “Everybody here can be very proud of this monument and we’d like to think a focal point of Fall River and definitely Bicentennial Park.
