Education New Zealand (ENZ) and New Zealand Consulate-General on January 26 presented the Global Competence Certificate (GCC) to 25 Vietnamese students from the IGC Group’s schools.
This initiative is led by ENZ in cooperation with various partners in New Zealand and Vietnam, aiming at equipping young people with skills for the future while strengthening educational ties between the two countries, despite the distance and travel limitations caused by the pandemic.

Eight Vietnamese students won gold medals at the international Olympiads in 2020.

Bui Hong Duc
Bui Hong Duc was the only Vietnamese student winning a gold medal at the 2020 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).
He was also the youngest member of the Vietnamese national team winning a gold medal at the 2019 IOI.
Before becoming the ‘golden boy’ in informatics, Duc was famous for achievements in mathematics. When he was a secondary school student at the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, he was selected for teams of excellent students to attend national and international competitions.

HCM City approved for one more place for New Year firework display
HCM City has been allowed to organise firework displays at one more location on New Year’s Eve.
The additional location is Saigon Hi-tech Park in District 9, which is aimed to mark the establishment of Thu Duc City. The city, which is the merger of districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc, will officially come into existence on March 1.
The low-range fireworks will be held at the park.
HCM City was earlier permitted to organise high-range firework displays at the entrance of Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2 and at the 81-floor Landmark 81, Vietnam s tallest building on New Year’s Eve.
