From the Mayor s desk

From the Mayor s desk By Theresa Kelly Hello Chillicothe! The past two years serving as the Mayor of Chillicothe has been nothing short of phenomenal! Since taking office in April 2019, my goal has been to make myself visible to the public and to reach out to everyone in the City to learn about and address your concerns and/or dreams for our Community. Two years later, my goal has not waivered. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has slowed the process, but it certainly has not ended the journey. Together we are inching our way back to normalcy. Though it is my belief that Covid-19 will be around for years to come, as more and more is learned about the virus, we are finding our way back. Together, we are getting through this obstacle course, and in my opinion, the Community of Chillicothe is Stronger for it!

Cape Cod Gateway Airport to reseed town-owned land, restore native plants

The Barnstable Patriot Cape Cod Gateway Airport (HYA), formerly Barnstable Municipal Airport, today announced its commitment to reseeding vegetation adjacent to its runways in mid-May. The airport drew public criticism a year ago for removing trees and brush-hogging seven acres of land bordering its runways along Independence Drive and Yarmouth Road. “Safety is always our top priority at the airport, and managing vegetation is an important part of that priority,” Airport Manager Katie Servis said in an Earth Day press release. “Our goal is to restore native Cape Cod vegetation with a low-growth variety that will be compatible with protecting the approach airspace while balancing aesthetics.
