A local pharmacy is aiming to give Grade 12 students from lower income families a financial shot in the arm.
The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy is offering a scholarship program for students in the four Grade 12 high schools in Lethbridge School District 51, Chinook High School, LCI, Winston Churchill High School and Victoria Park High School.
The $5,000 scholarship program will consist of two scholarships per school for a value of $625 each and will go towards graduating students who will be going to college or university in the fall.
Students with a family income of up to $80,000 will be eligible to receive the scholarships with the help of all four schools.

Staff at Wilson Middle School and the United Way display Chromebooks to be distributed to select students and families thanks to a donation to the United Way from ATB’s Greater Good program.
Dozens of local youth will receive a free Chromebook thanks to a donation to the United Way from ATB’s Greater Good program.
ATB purchased 412 of the Chromebooks, valued at approximately $100,000, for distribution across the province through various local United Way chapters. Lethbridge’s share of that was 66 Chromebooks, confirmed United Way Lethbridge and Southern Alberta community development co-ordinator Riley Swanberg.
Nine MCPS Students Awarded Corporate-Sponsored National Merit Scholarships
Nine Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) seniors from five high schools have been awarded corporate-sponsored scholarships in the first round of the annual National Merit Scholarships.
These scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year, are financed by corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations. The scholarships may either be renewable for four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards.
The students are among approximately 1,000 seniors nationwide to be selected as part of the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, according to a National Merit Scholarship Corporation news release. The scholars were selected from a pool of 17,000 students who were finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met the criteria of their scholarship sponsors.
