The St. Louis Blues season came to an end on Sunday as they were swept out of the playoffs by the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche outscored the Blues 20-7 in the series and highlighted some of the problems the Blues struggled with all season long.
Lack of scoring depth was a problem throughout the season for the Blues. At times it was difficult for the Blues to find the back of the net. The usually reliable Vladimir Tarasenko hasn’t been the same since suffering through a myriad of injuries and surgeries the past couple of seasons. Although Tarasenko did score 2 goals in the series finale verse the Avalanche. Another player the Blues brought in to supply some scoring touch was Mike Hoffman. Hoffman scored 17 goals in the regular season but only scored once in the 4 games of the series. Hoffman was signed for just a one year deal so a decision will have to be made on his future.
