WINTERSVILLE Voters in Cross Creek Township will have one item on their ballot this May whether or not to renew a road levy.
Township officials stress that the levy, which has been in place since 1976, is a renewal and its passage is not a new tax and will not increase residents’ taxes.
The funds generated by the levy have been and, if renewed, would continue to go toward maintenance of the township’s 41.814 miles of township roads.
The levy does not include the villages of Wintersville and New Alexandria.
The levy funding goes toward purchase of materials, general construction, re-construction, repairs of the streets, roads and bridges, including road salt in the winter, patching and chip and seal work/ materials.
