Rail depot worker Gavin Briggs was found dead in Little Somborne, near Stockbridge, on July 3 last year. At an inquest today (Monday, May 17), Winchester Coroner s Court heard that Gavin was reported missing after he failed to return home from work. The 40-year-old, was found locked in his car two days after and was sadly pronounced dead.   A toxicology report found no traces of alcohol or drugs in his system and his cause of death was ruled as Carbon monoxide poisoning.

‘Always a happy lady’: Bramley widow died due to complications after fall A 77-year-old woman from Bramley died because of complications due to a fall, an inquest heard. Susan Mary Docwra Douglas, a resident of Maywood House on The Street in Bramley, passed away on November 14, 2020. The inquest concluded that sepsis, fractured neck of femur, fall, and dementia were the reasons for her death. She had a past medical history of dementia and anxiety, especially during lockdown. At an inquest today (Monday, May 17), Winchester Coroner s Court heard that Susan fell from her bed on October 9, 2020. She was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, where it was found that she sustained a fractured right neck of femur. Despite operating her hip, Susan developed infections which needed further two washout surgeries.

Inquest: Declan Murray, Droxford B2150 collision

1/1 AN “INTELLIGENT and polite” Southampton cyclist who died on a main road is thought to have collided with a bridge while not wearing a helmet. Southampton resident Declan Murray, 55, was pronounced dead on the B2150 in Droxford on August 10 2020. This was near the Station Road junction at approximately 11pm. PC Andrew Daw, forensic collision investigator, said that he was likely to have been travelling at around 25mph in almost complete darkness. The front tyre of his bike was also significantly under-inflated. “The only lights available on this road at this time of night were the lighting equipment that Declan had and the lights from other road users,” PC Daw told an inquest in Winchester.

A FATHER concerned about the mental health of his son who went on to kill a parish councillor was told by the doctors’ surgery that they couldn’t help him, an inquest has heard. John Sartain, from Andover, contacted Adelaide Medical Practice to ask for urgent help for his son Alex, who believed their neighbour Cllr James Nash was a Russian spy and was working for Vladamir Putin. He went on to fatally shoot Cllr Nash outside his home in Upper Enham on August 5, 2020. The 34-year-old died when he crashed his bike later that day after being pursued by police.
