Winchester Coroners Court A CHANDLER S Ford woman died after falling from a horse, an inquest heard. Lesley Ann Morton, of Clausentum Close, was pronounced dead at Southampton General Hospital on March 30.
Winchester Coroner s Court heard the 56-year-old sustained head injuries after falling from the horse she was riding. A post mortem report states the preliminary cause of death as an Anoxic brain injury. These are caused by a complete lack of oxygen being provided to the brain. The report adds that Ms Morton went into cardiac arrest before reaching the hospital. Area coroner Jason Pegg adjourned the full hearing to October 19, to be heard at Winchester Coroner s Court.
A ‘FUN and family-oriented’ Basingstoke grandmother died from a bleed on the brain after falling down the stairs, an inquest has heard. On February 12, 2021 Angela Arnold was spending the evening at home on Mullins Close, Oakridge, watching television with her husband Ray when the couple fell asleep on the sofa. Winchester Coroner’s Court heard today (Thursday, April 15) that they awoke at around 3.30am and Angela, who was “unsteady on her feet” following a previous fall, said she needed to use the bathroom. Ray went to put the lights on, ready to help her. However, he heard a “thud” and when he went to investigate found that Angela had fallen down the stairs. She was lying unconscious. He called 111 and an ambulance was sent, which took Angela to University Hospital Southampton.
A CORONER has criticised Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for missing an X-ray which could have led to an earlier cancer diagnosis for a man who sadly died last year. Maurice Davison, known as Mo, from Hartley Wintney died at home on September 20, 2020, from a cancer called mesothelioma, caused by asbestos exposure, an inquest was told today (April 15). Winchester Coroner’s Court heard that the retired builder, 83, was admitted to Basingstoke hospital in early 2020, and X-rays were done, which were never reviewed ahead of his discharge. Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp said: “The problem came because the person who ordered the x-ray did not review it.
Dad, 38, took his life hours after being released from police custody AN ANDOVER father took his life just hours after he was released from police custody without being charged, an inquest heard. Daniel Bingham, 38, was found in the wooded area of a field near Ox Drove, on August 12 last year. At an inquest today (Wednesday, April 14), Winchester Coroner s Court heard that Daniel was reported missing after he failed to return from a dog walk. Mr Bingham, who was a manager at a stairlift company, was found with severe injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A toxicology report found no traces of alcohol or drugs in his system.
