Herkimer County officials cut a red ribbon to commemorate the completion of the construction phase of the Herkimer County Jail, but they’ll be cutting a good deal of red tape that plagued the old jail. Herkimer County Legislative Chairman Vincent Buono explains. It just makes sense because of the close proximity to the courts, the county building, and there’s a lot of departments that play into the sheriff’s department and corrections. Whether it be social services, mental health, public health, probation, the D.A., the courts within a half a mile they’re at those offices.

On Wednesday Governor Cuomo announced vaccination sites need to prioritize certain groups of eligible people. County sites need to prioritize essential workers, Hospitals should vaccinate healthcare workers, and Pharmacies and state-run mass vaccination sites should vaccinate those 65 and up.

Train company to leave Woonsocket Depot in January

WOONSOCKET – It seems the dream of bringing passenger rail service to downtown Woonsocket has come to a close.
The Boston Surface Railroad Company, the train startup that began using the Woonsocket Depot as its headquarters in 2015, will vacate the station in January, company executives confirmed to The Valley Breeze last week. The move is part of a settlement with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation following a months-long legal battle over the company’s use of the state-owned station.
