A Winfield woman escaped serious injury in a one-vehicle wreck last Sunday.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Rebecca Nichols lost control of the vehicle she was driving on South Locust Street in Winfield and the vehicle landed on its side in an adjacent creek. Nichols was unable to free herself from the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue workers.
The extent of her injuries was unknown, but Nichols was examined by medical personnel onsite and later released to her residence. No charges have been filed and damage to the vehicle was estimated at over $5000.

WINSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - Authorities have made an arrest after investigating a house fire in the 5900 block of Helicon Road in Arley on December 19.
Caleb Scott Farley has been arrested and charged with first-degree arson and the murder of David Brian Hayes.

MARION COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Wednesday in Winfield.
Agents with the State Bureau of Investigation were called to Marion County at the request of the Winfield Police Department.
The ALEA says two people were injured and taken to an area medical facility for treatment. No officers were injured in the incident.
No additional details are currently available from authorities.
After ALEA completes their investigation, findings will be given to the Marion County District Attorney’s office.
The Winfield Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Marion County.
