Song of Sankofa, created and performed by the 2021 STEP. After a relocation from her idyllic homeland and the death of a loved one, Jetta, a once free-spirited teenage girl, embarks on a journey through the natural world to recapture the magic of her fading childhood. Led by their childhood companion and a reluctant spiritual guide, Jetta learns the connection between youth and the natural world is deeper and more mystical than even she imagined.
Anton Chekhov is most famous for his dramas, including The Seagull. Western Reserve Playhouse, which produced that show virtually in October, is now jumping into the turn-of-the-century playwright s comedies with the three shorts On the Harmful Effects of Tobacco, The Bear and The Swan Song.
The night of Russian comedic sketches, dubbed Fragments of Farce, will run at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Stories about human foibles include a man whose speech about the evils of tobacco turns into a complaint about his overbearing wife; a man and a widow whose argument over money turns into a duel to the death, and possibly love; and a finale with a stage actor and servant discussing a life of theater.

ORANGE, Ohio In order to share the joy of Purim, Temple Emanu El of Orange will celebrate the holiday with 10 days of fun, including creative online and socially distanced events for the whole family, beginning Feb. 19.
The holiday begins at sunset on Thursday, Feb. 25, and ends at sunset the following day. Non-members can participate in most events by contacting Renee Higer at rhiger@teecleve.org for Zoom login.
