Windsor police seize imitation firearms, live ammunition following DIGS investigation

  WINDSOR, ONT. A Windsor police investigation into the suspected possession of illegal guns has resulted in multiple charges for a 23-year-old man. The Windsor Police Service Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit launched an investigation and identified a suspect and involved residence and vehicle. Around 1:15 p.m. Monday, police located the suspect in the 2700 block of Lynngrove Court where he was arrested without incident. Officers from the DIGS Unit applied for and were granted search warrants for the Lynngrove residence as well as suspected vehicles. The warrants were carried out at around 10:15 p.m. when officers found and seized three imitation firearms, a partially sawed off shotgun and various types and amounts of live ammunition from the home.

Gun seized after Windsor man pulled over for speeding in Amherstburg

  WINDSOR, ONT. A 22-year-old Windsor man is facing firearm-related charges after getting pulled over for speeding in Amherstburg. Windsor police say an officer from the Amherstburg traffic unit was conducting speed enforcement in the 1500 block of Front Road North on Wednesday. Officers say a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle travelling over 100 km/hr in a posted 70 km/hr zone at approximately 9:30 p.m. Through investigation, it was determined the driver had a suspended licence. Further investigation revealed the driver was also in possession of a loaded firearm that was located inside the vehicle, according to police. The driver was arrested without incident. The firearm and vehicle were both seized.

Windsor police arrest two suspects in illegal firearm investigation

  WINDSOR, ONT. A Windsor man and woman in their 20s are facing multiple weapons-related charges after police seized illegal guns, ammunition and a homemade silencer during a search. The Windsor Police Service Drugs and Guns Unit launched an investigation in May to look into the suspected possession of illegal firearms in the city. During the course of the investigation police identified two suspects and an involved residence. Investigators applied for and carried out a search warrant on Wednesday in the 300 block of Pierre Avenue. Members of the Emergency Services Unit executed the warrant around 9:15 p.m. and arrested the two suspects without incident.

Windsor woman charged with drug trafficking following DIGS investigation

  WINDSOR, ONT. An investigation by the Windsor Police Service Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit has resulted in numerous charges including the seizure of illicit drugs. Officials say in May of 2021, investigators launched an investigation involving the suspected trafficking of illicit drugs in Windsor. A suspected woman and a residence were identified in the operation. A search warrant was issued. On Friday, May 7, 2021, at approximately  4:30 a.m., officers from the DIGS Unit and Emergency Services Unit (ESU) attended the 5000 block of Matchette Road and executed the warrant at the involved residence. Five adults were located inside the residence, including the suspect who was arrested without incident.
