Windsor residents and those seeking to fly south this winter will have the option to do so. Sunwing Airlines will reconnect with Windsor airport to offer flights to popular vacation spots in Cuba such as Veradaro and Cayo Santa Maria beginning this winter. Our service from Windsor International Airport has been consistently well received and we re looking forward to returning for the 2021/2022 winter season, said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing.

Windsor-Essex, along with much of southwestern Ontario, was placed under a severe thunderstorm watch Wednesday afternoon.
Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for storms to develop starting in the afternoon, lasting into the evening. The main concern with these thunderstorms will be locally strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h and hail up to 2 to 3 cm in diameter, the agency said in the alert.

The people fighting to save air traffic control at Windsor International Airport were declaring Thursday a “tremendous day,” after NAV Canada announced it won’t shut down the control tower here or at any other airport across the country.
“It’s exciting and certainly it’s a vindication for all of those advocates who came forward and called for NAV Canada to halt their study of Windsor Airport,” Mayor Drew Dilkens said after learning of NAV Canada’s out-of-the-blue announcement. It puts to rest the most-feared possible outcome of an ongoing aeronautical study: the closure of the airports control tower.
