Responding to the declaration of a heat warning, the City of Windsor opened a temporary cooling centre at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre for people needing relief from the heat.
The cooling centre opened Tuesday in the atrium of the downtown aquatic centre, located at 401 Pitt St. W. The city also advises it has eight splash pads in operation and lifeguards began keeping watch at Sand Point Beach on Tuesday, with daily supervision from from 1 to 7 p.m.
