RDIF, Panacea Biotec partner to produce Sputnik V in India
First batch produced at Panacea Biotec s facilities at Baddi will be shipped to the Gamaleya Centre for quality control. Full-scale production of the vaccine is due to start soon

Russia s sovereign wealth fund RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund) and homegrown pharma company Panacea Biotec have partnered to launch the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in India. The RDIF has already tied up with Dr Reddy s to produce the vaccine in India. Both have agreed to produce 100 million doses per year of Sputnik V.

India is slated to begin production of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in August. The country is expected to manufacture 850 million Sputnik V doses. The Indian envoy to Russia has stated around 65-70% of total Sputnik V vaccines manufactured in the world would be produced in India.
According to the new guidelines, in individuals with lab tests that prove Covid-19 illness, the vaccination must be deferred by three months after complete recovery.
There are a lot of things that confuse people when they think about going for the COVID-19 vaccine. With India going through one of the worst phases of the pandemic, it is important for all citizens to be vaccinated at the earliest. But, at the same time, it is also important to be prudent and follow guidelines. One such guideline is for people who have recovered from the COVID-19 infection. Till now, experts have suggested a waiting period of one month post recovery. But the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday announced that Covid vaccination should be deferred by three months after recovery from the viral illness. It also announced that if a person is infected after the first dose, the second dose should also be deferred by three months after clinical recovery from illness.
VK Paul estimated that between August to December, production of 75 crore doses of Covishield is estimated, while 55 cores doses of Covaxin will be made available.

Dr VK Paul also informed that Bharat Biotech has welcomed the offer of other companies manufacturing Covaxin to increase its production in the country.

NEW DELHI: Amid reports of the shortage of COVID-19 vaccine in various states, Sputnik vaccine has arrived in India, and hopefully it will be available in the market from next week, said Dr VK Paul, member (health) of the NITI Aayog, on Thursday. Sputnik vaccine has arrived in India. I m happy to say that we re hopeful that it ll be available in the market next week. We re hopeful that the sale of the limited supply that has come from there (Russia) will begin next week, said Dr Paul while addressing media.
