You both incline toward urbanity’s buzz, but for this special trip, your long-awaited honeymoon you agreed it had to be Lake Como, a storied destination in northern Italy. You did think she had been a little too enthusiastic when she told you George Clooney lived there. Surely that isn’t why she wanted to visit? In the hopes of spotting him from a distance? Nah, you’re more secure than that. Besides, she can George-spot all she wants because you’ll be fantasizing about seeing (and maybe driving) Ferraris and Lamborghinis, both car brands made in the nearby region of Emilia Romagna. The streets that encircle Lake Como are literally made for racing around in such vehicles. Just ask James Bond.

Each Wednesday, we tackle wedding etiquette. At times, it’s a reader question or one from a colleague, friend or family member and other times we’ll cover a popular issue. (Note: Questions may be edited for clarity and brevity.)
Question: Due to COVID, my fiancé and I have scaled back our wedding to include only our closest family and friends. We’ll have about 50 people in attendance, outdoors, socially distanced, masked and following all of the precautions. There are some friends we weren’t able to include on the guest list, but that I’d love to have with us during the bachelorette party. Can friends not invited to the wedding attend the bachelorette party?

A year out from the start of the coronavirus pandemic, we are starting to see the world around us open back up and grasp for a sense of normalcy. As more people are able to get the COVID vaccine and venues, restaurants and large gatherings are having restrictions stripped away, that doesn’t necessarily mean we need to completely abandon practices of the past year. Even with a vaccine, some of your friends, family or wedding guests may still feel uncomfortable attending a large gathering for your wedding day.
We are sharing a blog published in June 2020 at the height of the pandemic that highlights a few of the more popular apps and websites helping couples share their Big Day with everyone virtually.

When it comes to wedding favors, it’s always a great idea to give something from the heart that is locally made. That way, your guests get a taste of your special city. One such option here in New Orleans is a box of lovely bonbons from Piety and Desire Chocolate. The New Orleans chocolatier hand-paints each bonbon (with colored cocoa butter) and is one of only a handful in the United States that makes bonbons from its own chocolate. “We manufacture chocolate ourselves starting from Direct Trade cocoa beans (much more equitable prices for farmers than Fair Trade) and Louisiana cane sugar,” says owner Christopher Nobles. “We make our own dark, milk and white chocolate.”
