The Paris Review’s mission has always been a dual one: to provide a platform for great literature, and to inspire readers with ambitious new writing. I’m proud that we’ve been able to accomplish both during my time at the Review, and I would like to thank the writers, readers, and colleagues on staff and the board who have collaborated with me toward these objectives . Roger Rosenblatt, Book Revue Launch New Literary Series, Write America |

February 1, 2021 Roger Rosenblatt Novelist Roger Rosenblatt, a Stony Brook University Distinguished Professor of English and Writing, has launched a new weekly literary series, Write America, which features renowned and emerging writers in weekly readings and conversation about how books and art might bridge the deep divisions in our nation. The series, in collaboration with Book Revue in Huntington, N.Y., begins on February 1 at 7 pm EST with former United States Poet Laureates ​Rita Dove ​and ​Billy Collins. The series is available on Book Revue’s Crowdcast channel. “When President Trump incited the mob attack on our Capitol, it proved how lethal language can be,” Rosenblatt said. “Writers have better uses for language – the stirring of thought, self-inspection, fellow-feeling, love. The divisions in the country do not end with Trump, who served to show us how deep these divisions go. We are an injured nation. Write America will try to show how language heals.

UNITED NATIONS – India has the world s largest diaspora with about 18 million people born there now living abroad, according to John Wilmoth, director of the UN s Population Division at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Presenting the International Migration Report 2020 Jan. 15, he said that the U.S. was the top host country for migrants with 51 million of them, or 18 percent of the world s total, living there. The report said that between 2000 and 2020, the size of the migrant population abroad grew for nearly all countries and areas of the world with India experiencing the largest gain of nearly 10 million during that period, going from the third place in 2000 for the number of migrants to the first spot in 2020.
