UP council can have a maximum of 60 ministers. After the death of ministers Chetan Chauhan, Kamal Rani Varun and Vijay Kashyap, there is room for six new ministers. Decision on inductees would be finalised depending on the nature of the central reshuffle. If certain equations related to caste and ally representation of UP are not taken care in the central reshuffle, they could be in UP.
Reshuffle of the Uttar Pradesh ministry may follow the reshuffle in the Union Council of Ministers. Talks have resurfaced in Lucknow about an exercise to balance caste equations, accommodate members of allies and assuage disgruntled MLAs. Four legislative council seats have also fallen vacant, which can be used if non-legislators are made ministers.
Bye-elections to five assembly seats that fell vacant following deaths of BJP legislators in the second Corona wave, are unlikely to be held.According to an election official, "Section 151A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 .

The Uttar Pradesh government has responded to claims by teachers unions in state that 1,621 teachers and support staff have died of Covid-19 while on panchayat poll duty in UP. Countering the claim, the state government has said that only three teachers died during panchayat election duty.

The Union health ministry on Wednesday said that if an individual gets infected by coronavirus, he/she should defer vaccination by three months.
Earlier, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused Bharatiya Janata Party of doing “cheap politics” after Foreign Minister S Jaishankar objected to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s comment on the possibility of new coronavirus strains in Singapore.
India on Wednesday registered 2,67,334 new coronavirus cases, taking the total count of infections to 2,54,96,330 since the pandemic broke out in January 2020. The country reported 4,529 deaths, its highest single-day toll. This pushed the overall fatality count to 2,83,248.
