‘Govt. misusing police to suppress the voice of the Opposition’
Senior TDP leader K. Kala Venkata Rao on Thursday said he had the courage to face “false cases” filed against him and other party leaders, and alleged that the YSRCP government was misusing the Police Department to suppress the voice of the opposition parties.
Mr. Venkata Rao was arrested late on Wednesday night at Rajam in Srikakulam district in the case pertaining to agitation at Ramatheertham and was released on bail in the early hours of Thursday from the Cheepurupalli police station in Vizianagaram, where he was kept for nearly five hours.

Former Minister and and former Telugu Desam Party State unit president Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao was arrested in Srikakulam in connection with the alleged attack on YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha member K. Vijaya Sai Reddy at Ramateertham in Vizianagaram district.
On January 2, a clash ensued between TDP and YSRCP workers when TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Vijay Sai Reddy visited the temple simultaneously. TDP leaders reportedly attacked Mr. Vijaya Sai’s convoy by pelting it with stones and footwear, opposing his sudden visit when Mr. Naidu was about to visit the temple where Lord Rama’s statue was vandalised in the last week of December 2020.

No action can be taken till January 28, says former MLA
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has obtained an interim order till January 28, fearing that the GVMC might demolish their office located at Daspalla Hills here.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, TDP’s parliamentary constituency president and former MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said that officials from GVMC had visited their office a few days and said that they were some shortfalls in the link documents.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Tension prevailed at Ramateerdham temple area in Vizianagaram district on Saturday when TDP and BJP workers attacked the vehicle of YSRC MP V Vijayasai Reddy and hurled bottles and chappals at him.
Vijayasai had come to the ancient temple to check the damage caused to the idol by unidentified miscreants earlier this week. The opposition parties cadre, who took objection to Vijayasai’s allegation that TDP was behind the vandalising incident, staged protests and damaged the window panes of his vehicle. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and local BJP leaders too visited the temple on Saturday.

The 16th century Ramateertham temple turned into a political war zone on Saturday with a triangular fight among leaders and activists of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling YSR Congress Party as they tried to get maximum political mileage with regard to the vandalism of the idol of Lord Rama at the Kodandarama Swamy temple. The shrine is located nearly 12 km from Vizianagaram district.
