Prasanna Venkatesh said that 12 permanent vaccination centres have been set up across the city to provide the second dose of the Covishield vaccine to 6,000 persons daily from Thursday. Mr. Venkatesh conducted a meeting with all officials and Ward Secretariat staff here on Wednesday. The Commissioner said that 100 doses per slot will be administered and there will be five 2-hour slots at every centre. He added that only people with slips given to them by ward secretariats through local volunteers a couple of days before the date of second dose of vaccination will be allowed at the centres.

COVID-19 hospitals' staff explained how to prevent fire mishaps

Fire services, electrical inspectorate officials hold training programme Officials of the AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services (APSDRFS), in association with the Electrical Inspectorate Department, on Monday organised an awareness-cum-training programme for COVID hospitals’ technicians on prevention of fire mishaps. The programme was aimed at taking steps to prevent electric short circuits, evacuation of patients from general wards and ICU and on regular checking of electrical connections, said Fire Services Regional Fire Officer (RFO) G. Srinivasulu. Participants focussed on electric failures which will lead to fire accidents in hospitals, loose connections, use of poor standard material, proper distribution of power to avoid overloading and ensuring of proper earthing, the RFO said.

Two more electric crematoria in city Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA With the rise in COVID deaths, the need for more electric crematoriums is increasingly felt. Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz on Friday said two more electric crematoria would be set up in Vijayawada city soon. Reviewing the COVID situation with officials of the Revenue, Municipal Corporation and the Government Hospital, Mr. Imtiaz said in addition to the existing electric crematorium at Krishna Lanka, two more would soon come up at Singhnagar and Vidyadharapuram. He directed the officials to ensure that the bodies in the mortuary of people who died while undergoing treatment for COVID in the Government General Hospital were handed over to their families without any delay and all COVID norms should strictly be followed, both by the people dealing with the cases in the hospital and the family members of the deceased persons.
