KALAMAZOO, MI Bell’s Oberon Day an annual reminder for the faithful of warmer temperatures and sunny days ahead is just around the corner.
The annual release of the fan-favorite beer will kick off with the special virtual morning show “Wake Up with Oberon!” on Facebook Live beginning at noon Monday, March 22, according to a press release from Bell’s. The one-hour live special will include an Oberon toast with Bell’s founder Larry Bell. Attendees can RSVP to the event on Facebook.
Mark your calendars, Michigan.
Bell s Brewery has tapped Monday as Oberon Day, the annual release of its beloved seasonal wheat ale that has long been considered an unofficial holiday signifying that Michigan summer is right around the corner. But you may be able to find it even sooner than that.
(And after the year we ve all had, we can all really use it, right?)
Bell s, based in Comstock, had to cancel Oberon Day last year as the COVID-19 pandemic was taking hold, instead allowing distributors and retailers to begin selling Oberon Ale (5.8% alcohol by volume) as soon as they received it.
And, a sure sign of spring in West Michigan Oberon s release day in 2021 is March 22! If you re not familiar with the Comstock, Mich., brewed beer:
Oberon is a wheat ale fermented with
our signature house ale yeast, mixing a spicy hop character with mildly fruity aromas. The addition of wheat malt lends a smooth mouthfeel, making it a classic summer beer. Made with only 4 ingredients, and without the use of any spices or fruit, Oberon is the color and scent of sunny afternoon.
According to Brewbound, Oberon will start leaving distributor warehouses on March 18 and Bell’s Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo will start serving it March 22. While some events will happen in person (with COVID-19 guidelines in place) Bell’s will also celebrate virtually with a special live broadcast Wake Up with Oberon!”, noon until 1 p.m. on March 22.
