A very shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported in the evening near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Sunday 14 March 2021 at 8:59 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 0.5 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

it felt like my building was toppling over. It swayed back and forth i heard a loud deep thundering roar right before I felt the swaying/shaking. Our pictures were swinging, our furniture slightly moved (we have slippery tile floors) the trees shook. That was scary | 6 users found this interesting.
