New York underreported COVID-19 nursing home deaths by as much as 50%, AG says FacebookTwitterEmail ALBANY New York Attorney General Letitia James on Thursday released a searing report that found the state Department of Health underreported the deaths of nursing home residents related to the coronavirus by as much as 50 percent. The 76-page report follows a months-long investigation by James office into allegations of patient neglect and other conduct that jeopardized the health and safety of residents and employees, including allegations that nursing homes failed to properly isolate residents who tested positive for COVID-19 and demanded sick employees continue to work or face retaliation or termination.

The Environment Court has rejected a proposal to rezone part of the Pūkaki Peninsula. Farmland in the heart of south Auckland will remain a green idyll after the Environment Court dashed the hopes of the landowners to rezone it. A group of farmers and landowners had sought to overturn an Auckland Council decision rejecting their proposal to expand the Rural Urban Boundary and the Future Urban Zone across more than 83 hectares of land near Auckland Airport. But after bouncing between the Environment Court and High Court over the last four years, the quest to overturn the decision was rejected in an Environment Court ruling at the end of last year.
