Dallas to close COVID-19 mass vaccination site at The Potter’s House
The site in southern Dallas, which has been open since March and has given almost 54,000 shots, will close at the end of Saturday.

Dallas County elections official promises full review after problems closed some polling places for hours Saturday
Six sites had issues with voting, including three in an area where there was a hotly contested race for the District 7 City Council seat.
After volunteers at one of the busiest polling places in South Dallas had to turn voters away for nearly four hours Saturday when voting machines stopped working, Dallas County’s top elections official is vowing to review what happened.
The issues occurred during municipal elections when 14 seats for the Dallas City Council were on the ballot, including a hotly contested race in District 7, which is in South Dallas.

The Dallas City Council elections are May 1; early voting starts Monday. All 14 council seats are contested, and three will see new faces as incumbents have reached term limits. The other 11 incumbents face challengers. This is the third of 14 stories on the races, which kicked off with coverage of the three open seats: in Districts 11, 2 and 13. The rest will be featured in ascending numerical order.

There is potential in a vacant lot. Sometimes it can be hard to see. But try a little and you can envision what will appear Friday at a previously empty space in South Dallas, at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Holmes Street. There will be greenspace and a garden. Public art and shaded seating. A play area for kids. Live music. Shipping containers and pop-up structures. Food trucks and carts and other vendors from the area.
