UP Police Register FIR Against Ex IAS Officer Who Criticised Govt s COVID-19 Management

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police have registered an FIR against retired IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh for “spreading rumours” on social media after Singh tried to draw chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s attention towards alleged criminal neglect by some officials in Varanasi.
The 1982-batch retired IAS officer had tweeted about how the body of a patient who died of COVID-19 in a local government hospital was eventually reportedly fished out of a drain close to the hospital.

Varanasi: Pilgrims thronging this holy city to offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Thursday, will get an opportunity to have a glimpse of the under-construction artistic buildings of KV Dham area and assess for themselves how beautiful it would be after completion by end of August.
Especially, the pilgrims who enter through Chhattadwar (gate-4) will get this chance as they will walk up to Mandir Chowk of KV Dham before taking a turn towards the temple. Before entering the main temple, they could see many completed or under-construction structures.
After reviewing the finalisation of preparations for Mahashivratri at KVT on Tuesday, divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal said, “Devotees queued up at Chowk side will get entry through Chhattadwar gate. They will be inside KVT via Mandir Chowk being constructed at the centre of KV Dham project area. Apart from them, the devotees entering through Bansphatak-Dhundhiraj Ganesh point will go out

The BHU chief proctor Prof Anand Chawdhary said, “Without seeking prior permission for holding any event as per the rule of varsity the students associated with AISA had started demonstration at Mahila Mahavidyalaya crossing. In the meantime students belonging to ABVP also reached there and a scuffle took place between both groups. Proctorial board personnel and police separated both groups. Future course of action in this episode will be decided soon.”
Earlier, the AISA activists carrying placards and handheld drums were raising slogans in support of farmers protest and also against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union agriculture minister Narendra Sigh Tomar. They also burnt posters of Tomar.
