Another event cancellation driven by state governors acting like “petty tyrants” reminds us of the people who allowed us to live free of major tyrants.
On the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River, the Washington Crossing Historic Park says that due in part to crowd-size restrictions, the beloved annual tradition of re-enacting Washington’s courageous Christmas crossing into New Jersey won’t happen in front of the usual cheering crowds this year. The park notes:
The recreated image of Washington crossing the Delaware during the Revolution has become an iconic piece of Americana, and is reenacted every Christmas Day by a group of approximately 250 actors working with Washington Crossing Historic Park.

While decorating for the holidays is a tradition, too often strings of burnt out or damaged holiday lights end up being tossed out with household garbage.
There is a greener way to properly dispose of these decorations. Instead of discarding non-working lights in the trash, the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders want residents to give them a second life by bringing them to the county’s Resource Recovery Complex, where a permanent electronics disposal center is staffed from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and from 7-11:30 a.m. Saturdays.
