Washington D.C., Feb 1, 2021 / 01:30 pm (CNA).- The bishop of San Diego on Monday accused “some bishops” of making the issue of abortion a “litmus test” for Catholic politicians during the Biden presidency.
With the inauguration of Joe Biden as just the second Catholic president in United States history, “some bishops want to recast the presence and tone of the conference in the public order,” said Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego at an online event on Monday.

The controversial Roe Act may be law in liberal Massachusetts but a pro-life group remains positive.
Myrna Maloney Flynn of Massachusetts Citizens for Life told EWTN Pro-Life Weekly that it has been two “strenuous” years after the legislation was filed but the public has responded positively, she said, to the pro-life group’s effort to educate it on the abortion issue.
As soon as the bill was filed in the winter of 2019, Citizens for Life got to work. As soon as people on both sides of this issue heard about what this bill would mean for the women of our state, for the girls of our state, and for the infants of Massachusetts, they jumped to action, said Flynn. They wanted to know how they could get involved and how they could help put a stop to this bill.

Denver, Colo., Dec 21, 2020 / 07:15 am (CNA).- In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a Catholic-run healthcare practice in Colorado will partner with a major foundation based in Paris to bring specialized medical care to adults with Down syndrome.
Bella Health & Wellness, a practice based in the Denver suburb of Englewood, Colorado, announced at a Dec. 3 fundraiser that they will partner with the
Jerome Lejeune Foundation, a French organization named for the pro-life doctor who discovered the genetic cause of Down syndrome in the 1950s.
Dede Chism, Bella’s co-founder and executive director, told CNA that the Lejeune Foundation was looking to partner with a medical practice in the United States that shared their ethos.
