Patrick Robert Dragon – Patrick Robert Dragon, 50, died on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle against COVID-19. He was born in Putnam, Conn., December 29, 1970, son of Robert and Ann Marie (Bernier) Dragon. A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Conn., Patrick was a 1989 graduate of Killingly High School. He was also a graduate of Norwich Technical School, having studied in the Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Program. For several years Patrick was an EMT with American Ambulance in Griswold, Conn. Patrick was a proud member of the 107th Training Troop and entered the Connecticut State Police Training Academy in January 1998. Upon graduation from the Academy, Patrick served his community as a patrol trooper at Troop D in Danielson, Conn., a Resident Trooper in the town of Sterling, Conn., and a Major Crime Unit Detective.

Newcastle Nobby s beaches closed after multiple sharks spotted just metres from shore

Two Newcastle beaches have been closed after multiple sharks were seen in the area. Lifeguards using a drone camera spotted two sharks in waters just 20 metres off Nobby s Beach about 10am today. Swimmers were directed to come into shore as authorities worked to determine if any other sharks were in the area. Nobby s and Newcastle Beaches were closed today after three sharks were spotted just metres from shore.(9News) Lifeguards used jetskis to usher the sharks out to sea.(9News) Authorities say a third shark was sighted a short time later. They re perhaps an inquisitive type of shark and if you re in their territory they want to know why, Hunter Surf Life Saving President Henry Scruton said.
