It may be a subject many don t take seriously, but Life Orientation is an incredibly important subject. Many of us would have been able to navigate the world better with some of these essential skills, suggests Refilwe Moloto.
But, which skills are the most important, and how does one decide which to prioritise?

Hlongwane and Thuzi also scored six distinctions - Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, English, Life Orientation and Geography.
Thuzi just missed a seventh distinction in IsiZulu by a single mark.
Chikonye and Thuzi are heading to the University of Cape Town, while Hlongwane will study at Wits University.
The three best friends will all be studying Actuarial Science.
Chikonye said: I can t believe that I am the third-best pupil in Physical Science nationally. I dedicate this milestone to my schoolmates, parents, siblings and teachers for all their hard work and positive messages. Many people believed in me. I was optimistic that we were going to raise the flag of our school higher than before. We are now going to begin new lives away from our families and teachers. We are going to make them happier by reaching more goals in future.

Johannesburg - A lot is is expected of Maryam Suleman, who was the deputy head girl at Parktown High for Girls.
With many of her peers in panic mode before the announcement of matric results, Suleman has managed to remain calm and relaxed.
The 18 year old said mental health is key and that she feels blessed that the long haul is finally over. She bagged six distinctions in Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Accounting, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
âIâm not yet relieved but for me it s a milestone reached and a mission accomplished. Of course, it has been one with challenges but we managed to get through all that.â
Soweto Maths genius Kgaogelo Bopape off to UCT

Johannesburg - Horizon International High School pupil Kgaogelo Bopape who recently made his nation proud by winning a bronze medal at the 61st International Maths Olympiad is headed to the University of Cape Town.
Bopape from Soweto, achieved a 97 percent pass in Maths and a total of seven As. Among the subjects Bopape bagged distinctions in were English Home Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Engineering Graphics and Design, Life Sciences.
Bopape, who visited his Horizon School to get his matric results, explained that this has been a very difficult year for many students due to the coronavirus, but he was able to use the online communication and resources provided by his school to continue with matric studies despite the lockdowns.
