Newport dog owner jailed over Rhodesian Ridgebacks attack

Sam Gordon A DOG owner who ordered his Rhodesian Ridgebacks to attack their victim again when they had just bitten him has been jailed. Sam Gordon set the animals on Cordell Roberts after they had already sunk their teeth into him in front of horrified witnesses on Newport’s Commercial Road. Prosecutor Thomas Stanway played dramatic CCTV footage capturing the shocking incident as he opened his case. Cardiff Crown Court was shown Sam Gordon then whipping Mr Roberts with a dog lead after he’d jumped on top of a car to escape the beasts. Mr Stanway explained how the victim had been attacked by the dogs on June 8, 2020, after he was shopping at Lifestyle Express on Commercial Road.

SGF praises retailers for commitment to tackling crime in stores Print 11th May 2021 The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has praised the strong response to its Don’t Put Up With It campaign, which urges shop owners and staff not to suffer in silence as victims of retail crime. The campaign, which launched in March, encourages retailers to report every criminal act in their store to the police so that the true scale of issues can be seen in the hope that fewer incidents remain unpunished. Those who have taken the Don’t Put Up With It Pledge so far are: Bestway Retail, CJ Lang (Spar), Costcutter, JW Filshill (Key Store), Londis, Mace, Motor Fuel Group, Nisa, One O One Group, Scotmid, United Wholesale Grocery (Lifestyle Express) and United Wholesale Scotland (Day Today and U Save).
